As is my tradition during Christian Holy Week, I always listen to Jesus Christ Superstar. For reasons I'm not even sure I understand, it brings me closer to God as I understand him, and it illustrates the immense struggles Jesus went through.
Anyway, this is my favorite version. In case any of you wondered about my music background, I went to a high school that had a talent pool as deep as Performing Arts in NYC. You couldn't help but grow under the stewardship of the amazing faculty. The Rock Ensemble was always ambitious, and in the 1977-78 school year (I was in 8th grade at the time, drumming for the Soule Road Middle School Rock Ensemble - sort of the AAA farm team for this group), they took on JCS. Here is the full show! These are high school kids. I swear. This gave me a lot to live up to as I grew as a musician.
