Martin's Joy
I attend The Swannanoa Gathering every year. One of my guitar camp buddies is a big Martin aficionado. After the 2013 camp (his first), he ordered a very special "quadruple M45" Martin guitar from their Custom Shop. It came in several months later. The guitar camp guys got together to jam, and he brought it to the jam. He handed it to me to try, and the chord progression for this song was just sitting there in the guitar waiting for me. It just came out... I pulled out my phone, recorded it, took it home, and turned it into this. I didn't get to use the M45 in the real recording; it was just that I recorded the sketch on my phone... :)
I got Pete Huttlinger back for this song because of his brilliant work on my last CD, Autumn Breeze.
Chris Barbosa was a happy accident. I was at Hideaway Cafe, watching the open mic, and a band called Iris Calling played; and Chris was their viola player. I was captivated by his sensitive, emotional and intuitive style, and knew immediately that I had to hire him. What a wonderful find, his contribution to this CD is one of my most treasured!
I'm the drums, bass, rhythm guitars, keyboards, and the melody. Pete takes the guitar solo in the middle, and Chris has the two viola solos.
